Four Terrific Travel Apps for your Summer Holiday

|

Ah, it’s that glorious time of year again. The “out of office” goes on, bags are packed and you head off on your summer holiday. I must admit, since joining Concur, my holidays never seem to run as smoothly as my business trips. However, I was pretty chuffed to discover that most Concur Travel and partner apps can be used outside of work too.

So, here’s four terrific travel apps you can use on your summer holiday…

TripIt

What time is the flight again? What’s the name of our hotel? We’ve all been there. TripIt takes the hassle out of travel itineraries and does all the remembering for you. If your company uses Concur Travel, TripIt automatically creates a live itinerary for you based on your booking information. But, you can add personal trips too. In the App Store reviews, Techno Jeff describes it as “the best thing since Sky Plus.” High praise indeed – thanks Jeff.

TripLingo

If like me you failed languages at school because you were doodling cats when you should have been practising active verbs, there’s a solution to that language barrier you’re facing. With TripLingo, you just choose your language, say or type a sentence and TripLingo will translate it for you. There’s even a phrase list if you just want the basics. And, as I was writing this, I discovered the image translator. Now I can translate menus just by taking a photo?! Sheesh, this thing is amazing.

LoungeBuddy

Sadly, I will never be able to afford to fly business class (oh what I wouldn’t give for a fully reclining seat on an overnight flight). But, I can use LoungeBuddy to enjoy some incredibly luxurious airport lounges. This clever app helps me find lounges that I can access for free or a one-time fee. When you connect LoungeBuddy to Concur Travel, it finds lounges for you based on your itinerary information. Now you don’t have to empty your bank account for a taste of the good life.

Uber

If you don’t know what Uber is, have you been living under a rock with my Dad? Basically, Uber allows you to request, track and pay for a driver. It’s great at home and even better abroad when you don’t have to tackle the language barrier or worry about having the right currency. Plus, if you use the same phone for work and home use, you can create a ‘Business’ and a ‘Personal’ profile. That way, you can avoid paying for your Saturday night ride home via the kebab house with the company credit card.

And that’s it folks – just a taster of what’s on offer within the Concur Travel ecosystem.
