SAP Concur unveils AI-powered upgrades and new partnerships at Fusion Exchange

AccountingWEB |

At the recent SAP Concur Fusion Exchange EMEA event in London, SAP Concur welcomed around 600 clients to explore how innovations in AI and strategic partnerships are helping businesses streamline travel and expense (T&E) processes.

A more intuitive mobile experience
Cassie Petrie, Managing Director for SMB EMEA at SAP Concur, showcased significant enhancements to the SAP Concur mobile app. These include “up to 40% fewer clicks” for common tasks and broader content from airlines, rail services, and hotels - all aimed at improving the user experience. Petrie noted that more than 91% of expense claims made through the app are now compliant with company policies.

Chris Juneau from SAP Concur and James Lee from Mastercard speak to Jake Smith

Levelling the playing field with automation
Christopher Juneau (on the right of this photo), SVP and Head of Product Marketing at SAP Concur, told AccountingWEB that “15 or 20 years ago, only the big organisations could afford to automate the expense reporting process,” but today, cloud technology makes it possible for companies of all sizes. He added that combining Concur Travel and Concur Expense gives finance teams a holistic view of spend and faster reimbursement capabilities.

Smarter spending through partnerships
SAP Concur is also working closely with Mastercard to enhance the corporate card experience. James Lee, Mastercard’s Director of Global Partnerships, explained how corporate cards can reduce manual entry and speed up reimbursement: “As soon as the payment is made, the report can start to be generated… there’s no delay and no need to restate last month’s figures.”

Juneau highlighted how real-time transaction data is helping users capture expenses more accurately: “When you tap to pay, you get a reminder - ‘Did you have any attendees with you?’ If you need to complete that expense claim two or three weeks later, it might be harder to remember who you were with.”

AI-driven accuracy and compliance
SAP Concur also previewed new capabilities from its Joule Copilot AI, which can detect missing receipts, flag claims outside company policy, and help reduce fraud. Rather than auditing a small sample of claims, Juneau explained that AI can “check them all and highlight any that could benefit from human intervention.”

“If you’re a small to mid-sized business, cashflow is very important. So that’s why utilising SAP Concur and a partner like Mastercard can help maintain that cashflow,” said Juneau.
