How Weatherford transformed global travel and expense management with SAP Concur

Weatherford, a global energy services company with more than 18,000 employees across 75 countries, faced a challenge many growing businesses recognise: decades of decentralised travel and expense (T&E) processes had created a fragmented operation that was costly to run and difficult to manage.

With over 40 separate corporate card programmes and dozens of local systems handling expense management, finance leaders had no consistent audit trail, limited real-time visibility into spending, and no way to enforce policy at scale. Employees were booking travel outside of policy, funding trips from their own pockets, and waiting too long for reimbursement.

The SAP Concur solution

Weatherford partnered with SAP Concur to consolidate every disconnected system into a single global platform for expense management, travel booking, and compliance. The phased rollout across all 75 countries included:

  • Concur Expense and Concur Travel for unified, policy-compliant expense management and travel booking
  • Intelligent Audit to automate expense review, flag out-of-policy spend, and maintain a clean audit trail — without manual intervention
  • Company Bill Statement to eliminate manual card reconciliation and reduce invoice processing overhead
  • A consolidated corporate card programme replacing 40+ schemes, strengthening compliance and generating ROI through rebates that offset licensing costs
  • WalkMe for SAP Concur to deliver in-app training at scale without adding headcount
  • SAP Concur Advanced Care for dedicated expert support throughout and after implementation
